Livinus of the BUNDT (Zeist 1909 - The Hague 1979)
Light Artist, Graphic Artist, Video Artist
Education: Livinus van de Bundt is considered part of the ?New Hague School? and is founder of the ?Free Academy? in The Hague. He lived and worked in The Hague
The work of Livinus van de Bunt has developed from realistic art in the early years to highly avant-garde art in his later career. Where he first worked realistically, academically, he was later influenced by various styles. After his academic work, Livinus van de Bundt worked more expressionistically, under the influence of the German expressionists. In the 1950s, van de Bundt experimented more and more and explored the limits of the possibilities offered by graphics. He works with clear relief and with very expressive shapes and thick on horizontal, often black, paint. After ?being ready? with these experiments with the more traditional graphics, he focuses on photography. With this he is making a name for himself in (international) avant-garde art. After photography, Livinus van de Bundt made a name for himself as a light artist, using a ?light brush? luminous fluxes on light-sensitive material. He also makes video art and, very early on, work using the computer.
