WATER NYC is an original hand drawn lithograph created by Pierre Alechinsky in 1985, printed using hand lithography techniques on Arches paper, 100% acid free. WATER is an abstract brush painting composition exemplifying Alechinsky's expertise as a fine printmaker with his use of expressive loose brushwork and fluid abstract litho washes surrounding an imprint which reads "WATER" taken from an actual wax crayon rubbing of a NYC public water utility manhole cover which then was transferred to a lithographic printing plate. Light aqua colored water-like puddles surround the dark orange central element of this bold graphic image, evoking a very relevant reminder of WATER's importance in all our lives.
