Beautiful drawing, watercolour and pastel on paper, by W.G.F. Jansen.  Before he established himself as a freelance painter in Blaricum in 1908, W.G.F. Jansen worked as a decorative painter at the Rozenburg porcelain factory in The Hague and as a pottery designer in Gouda. His work can be characterised as a late flowering of the Hague School. He particularly admired Jacob Maris, which is reflected in his fluent brushwork and love for the purely Dutch landscape. He painted sea and beach scenes, intimate farmsteads, river scenes under high skies, meadow landscapes and quiet heathland landscapes with sheep. He was widely praised for his highly developed sense of colour nuances, especially in coloured whites, greens and greys. Museums: Singer Museum Laren and Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen.
