Delicate work by this special artist. (Summary of text from Wikipedia see below) Sárika Góth also known as Sari Goth, born in Vienna, 29 March 1900 - Veere, 1 April 1992) child of Hungarian parents, Góth was a daughter of Maurice Moritz Góth and Ada Lowith, who were both also painters. She spent her youth in Budapest and Paris. The family was on a holiday at the Belgian coast when the First World War broke out in 1914. The family fled to Zeeland and lived first in Domburg and then in Veere. Together with her mother Ada Góth-Lowith Lucie van Dam van Isselt, Anneke van der Feer, Jemmy van Hoboken, Ina Rahusen and Bas van der Veer, she is considered to be one of the Veerse Joffers.
Góth had already painted around 1915 and had painted a self-portrait as a girl combing her hair. Góth received lessons from Jo Koster and was also in contact with Jan Toorop, who advised her to go to Domburg, where more artists were working at the time, such as Mondriaan and Jan Sluyters. Between 1918 and 1920 she studied at the art academy in The Hague, but she also received lessons from Hans Hofmann in 1922 in Munich. In 1923 she had lessons at the School of Arts and Crafts in London and in 1924 with André Lhote (Paris). Góth in turn gave lessons to Roeloffina van Heteren-Vink. Between 1927 and 1950 she lived in Amsterdam, then alternately in Amsterdam and Veere. In Veere she lived on the Markt, in the house 'de Goutsbloeme'. In addition to her work as a painter she traded in antiques. After her death her collection was auctioned. The proceeds went to the Queen Wilhelmina Fund.
