Henk Zweerus is best known as an artist for his sculptures in public space, including for the municipality of Amsterdam. A number of his sculptures are now in Museum de Fundatie. His drawings were also appreciated. Some of them are in the Rijksmuseum.
As a teacher at the art academy in Enschede, he taught Jan Kip and Gerard van der Leeden, among others. Later he taught at Delft University of Technology, where he strongly influenced several famous architects, including Carl Weber.
