Colored (enhanced) heliogravure by the Belgian artist Félicien Joseph Victor Rops (1833 - 1898). This heliogravure was made as an illustration for the novella "Les Diaboliques" by Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly, where the print functions as an end plate (at the end of the book). As in so many of Rops's prints, the title is mentioned in the plate, no less than twice. Signed in the plate "F Rops" lower right.
