Information about the artist: Erasmus Bernhard van Dulmen Krumpelman (Bad Kreuznach, August 25, 1897 - Zeegse, June 21, 1987), watercolorist, illustrator, pen artist, painter, draftsman and wall painter. The German-born artist (also Erasmus Bernhard von Dülmen Krumpelman(n)) was a son of mathematics teacher Erasmus Bernardus van Dulmen Krumpelman and Elisabeth Adam. His parents had met in Kreuznach. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Amsterdam. -Education: He followed a private drawing course at the Hendrik de Keyserschool and continued his studies at the National Normal School for drawing education. In 1918 he became a member of Arti et Amicitiae and exhibited regularly at member exhibitions. He came into contact with artists August Allebé, George Breitner and Willem Witsen, who helped him develop his impressionistic style. After his marriage in 1921 he settled in the province of Drenthe. There he came into contact with painters from the Groningen art circle De Ploeg, after which his painting style became looser and more colorful. -Subjects: He painted and drew landscapes, city and village views, fairground and circus scenes, scenes from farm life, portraits (including the portrait of professor Adrianus van Veldhuizen for the Groningen University). Erasmus Bernhard van Dulmen Krumpelman co-founded the Drentse Schilders in 1946, an artists' association that existed until 1953. He was then co-founder of the Drents Schildersgenootschap (1954) together with, among others, his son Erasmus Herman and Evert Musch. In 1958 he won the Cultural Prize of Drenthe. In 1984 the Drents Museum organized a retrospective of his work. (Source): including Wikipedia, RKD
