Country Art
Land art (landscape art) originated in the 1960s. In Land art, the artists make changes to the landscape. With this the artist wants to express the presence of man and to state that man takes possession of nature through the change in the environment. Land art arose because of the need of artists to liberate themselves from traditional sculpture. They fled the cities and entered into a dialogue with nature. Land art has links with minimal art and with arte povera (where materials from nature are also used).
