Wilhelm KAGE (Stockholm 1889 - Stockholm 1960)
While studying decorative painting, Wilhelm Kage took painting lessons with Johan Rohde in Copenhagen. He soon became very interested in graphic design and started working as a poster designer. In 1917 he got a job at the porcelain factory Gustavsberg and became artistic director there. In 1942 he set up the Gustavsberg Studio project, which made the company widely known. In 1949 he left Gustavsberg after many years and was succeeded by Stig Lindberg. A well-known design of his hand is the service called Blue Lily. It became famous among 'ordinary people' because the decoration was recognizable and the service did not have a high price.
