Toon FIFTY SHIELD (Nijmegen 1902 - Blaricum 1981)

Fiftyschild was a painter and textile artist. He developed from figurative to abstract realism; a stay on the Mediterranean in 1950-1951 resulted in more colorful work, tighter composition and increasing abstraction. The last 20 years mainly work in watercolor, paintings until 1957 are characterized as expressionistic, then as abstract. Received the Charlemagne Prize from the Municipality of Nijmegen in 1960.
