Theo VAN DER HORST (Arnhem 1921 - Arnhem 2003)
Painter, sculptor, graphic artist, glass painter
Education: From 1936 to 1940, Van der Horst was educated at the Arnhem Academy of Art Exercises. Theo van der Horst lived and worked in Arnhem.
Van der Horst made oil paintings of people, animals and landscapes in an expressionist style. Sometimes his work had Christian themes. He also made etchings, drawings, gouaches, statues and stained glass.
Exhibitions and prizes:
In the 1950s to 1970s, Van der Horst had several exhibitions, including in Gemeentemuseum Arnhem, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam and the Dordrechts Museum. In 1954 he won a prize from the Province of Zeeland for flood paintings, in 1954 he won the Arnhem prize for visual arts and in 1962 he won the Quarles van Ufford prize. After the 1970s, Van der Horst opted for a hermitage.
