Sjoerd ELZER (Groningen 1944 - Paterswolde 2023)


Educated at the Minerva Academy in Groningen, where he later also worked as a teacher of graphic techniques. In his work he combined abstraction with experimental techniques, both in paintings and etchings. His use of oil and acrylic paint gave his canvases a powerful expression. Elzer received the Drempelprijs for graphics and exhibited regularly, including at Galerie Paterswolde. His oeuvre reflects a continuous search for form and color, in which he did not limit himself to one style or technique.
