Education: Mogens Balle studied to be an architect, but later dropped out Lived and worked in Copenhagen
Mogens Balle was an artist affiliated with the CoBrA movement. Initially he studied to be an architect, but he wanted to focus on the visual arts and gave up his studies. In the year 1947 Mogens Balle co-founded an association called Spiralen, where he also met Asger Jorn. In the beginning Mogens Balle mainly focused on Naturalism, but in 1945 he switched to abstract painting. He was also known for making peinture mots in which he combined word and image.
In the 1960s Mogens Balle went in a different direction, he also made bronze sculptures of the fantasy figures he painted. His paintings are especially colorful and busy.
