Mieke BIG (Alkmaar 1949)
Artist and designer Mieke Groot studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in the 1970s. Later she also taught there. After completing her studies, she founded the General Glass Studio with Richard Meitner. Groot makes blown and enamelled objects that sometimes have a characteristically opaque surface through the use of multiple layers of sand mixed with enamel. She also designs and makes jewelry.
