Mark BRUSSE (Alkmaar 1937)
Painter, sculptor, graphic artist.
Education:
Mark Brusse started his education at the art academy in Arnhem at the age of seventeen.
Mark Brusse traveled a lot after his education at the art academy, and worked everywhere, among other things. Paris, Berlin, Japan, Korea and Ecuador. But from 1960 he lives almost permanently in Paris. This is because he was offered a contract with a gallery during this period. Yet he broke this contract fairly quickly, because he received a scholarship through Cees Nooteboom and left for New York in 1965. In New York he met famous artists: Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Since 1999, Mark Brusse has been living in Paris again.
Brusse's work is generally called poetic. His travels and returning with impressions is a constant in his visual work. Mark Brusse has made many sculptures, collages and drawings.
Exhibitions and prizes:
Exhibitions in: Paris, Amsterdam, Breda, Eindhoven, Middelburg, Istanbul and Zurich
Mark Brusse is represented in the collections of Museum van Bommel van Dam in Venlo and CODA museum in Apeldoorn. In addition, his work is included in the corporate collections of, among others, Fontijs art collection Eindhoven and Art collection KPN The Hague.
