Marianne BRANDT (Chemnitz 1893 – Kirchberg 1983)
Born in 1893, Marianne Liebe went on to study at the Bauhaus, where she soon became the head of the metal workshop. Not much later she worked for Walter Gropius himself. In 1919 she married Erik Brandt, a Norwegian painter. During the financial depression in 1932, Brandt was fired and she was unable to find suitable work during World War II. In 1939 she became a member of the Reichskulturkammer, despite never joining the National Socialist Party. In 1935 she and Erik decide to divorce. Marianne Brandt's designs are described as timeless and modern industrial design.
