Maarten Koopman (Amsterdam, 1951) is a painter, illustrator and composer (he composed music for all films by Orlow Seunke, the films by Jan Musch and Tijs Tinbergen and all his own animation films). He was co-writer and co-director of the TV series Pim and co-screenwriter for Orlow Seunke's films De Smaak van Water and Pervola. Since 1995 he has been teaching animation at the Academy for Visual Education in Tilburg, St. Joost in Breda and the HKU in Hilversum. Several of his animation films show his interest in painting. He filmed Van Gogh's Bedroom (good for a special jury prize in Cannes), Mondriaan's Broadway Boogie Woogie and the much acclaimed Famous Paintings by various artists. His (animated) films are screened at international film festivals and have been awarded several times.
