Regina was founded in 1898 by GF van der Want and GAA Barras as the first Dutch factory producing enamelled tobacco pipes. The initials WB can often be found on Regina's pottery. The production of Gouds pottery started in 1917, and tiles were also made. The plain green glaze on the underside of the high-gloss plate is typical. Matt glazes were also used in the 1920s to keep up with fashion. Many products can be placed within the New Art or Jugendstil. During and after the Second World War, Regina produced tableware with designs by Floris Meydam, among others.
In 1979 the factory closed due to deteriorating economic conditions and made a new start as Regina Wotra, Ateliers for Artisan Art in Bleiswijk under AJ van Dijk. In 1989 a new branch in Bergschenhoek called Artihove Regina BV opened and the location in Bleiswijk was closed. Artihove still exists, although the production of Regina pottery has been shut down.
