Kasparus (Kaspar) Karsen (Amsterdam, April 2, 1810 - Biebrich, July 24, 1896) was a Dutch painter. He mainly painted city and river views in a classical, romanticized style. Karsen was trained by his uncle, the urban and landscape painter George Westenberg. Later he studied at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunste and with the painter Hendrik ten Cate. After working for several years as a decorative painter, he specialized in city and river views. He did not always paint topographical situations, but often a kind of fantasy images, in which he combined elements from reality into a new whole. He often depicted cities seen from the outside. Karsen became a member of Arti et Amicitiae in 1836. Karsen's work can be found in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and Amsterdams Historisch Museum, among others.
