Education:
Jutta Metzger was educated with Willem Grimm, representative of Northern Expressionism. From 1950 to 1952 Metzger was in Paris, after which she settled in Amsterdam in 1953.
Lives and works in Amsterdam
In 1960 Jutta Metzger became a member of the Keerkring, in 1963 of the Hollandse Aquarellistenkring, of which she is still a member. Metzger was also a lecturer and professor at the Rijksakademie for visual arts in Amsterdam from 1970 to 1989.
In the past, Jutta Metzger often painted real landscapes. She would then start with watercolors in nature and finish it later at home. Today, Metzger prefers to work from a confined space, or even from memory. She often depicts the garden at her French home.
