Joseph BEUYS (Krefeld 1921 - Duesseldorf 1986)
Joseph Beuys was a very important German artist. He was known as one of the most influential German artists for the second half of the 20th century. He had a troubled past behind him. In 1936 he became a member of the Hitlerjugend, where he once played the cello in an orchestra of the Hitlerjugend. After studying at the art academy in Düsseldorf, he graduated as Meisterschüler from Ewald Mataré. The work of Joseph Beuys was usually created in such a way that it provoked strong discussions and opinions among the public.
Felt suit from 1970 is an important and well-known work by Joseph Beuys. He was also a teacher at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, having an important influence on his students.
