Jan MENSINGA
Painter, graphic artist, watercolorist.
Jan Roelf Mensinga was born in 1924 in Leeuwarden and died in 1998 in Amsterdam.
Education: Mensinga attended an evening course at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam from 1954 to 1956. In 1956 and 1957 he attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Mensinga has lived and worked in Amsterdam since 1946.
Jan Mensinga made still lifes, portraits and images of figures and fruits. Twice he made a trip to Italy, where he became very inspired. He was a teacher at the Academy of Art Teachers in Tilburg. Mensinga was also a member of the Association for the Promotion of the Graphic Arts ?De Grafische?, the Federation of Associations of Professional Visual Artists and Amsterdams Grafisch Atelier.
Exhibitions and prizes:
Mensinga's work has been on display in the Centraal Museum in Utrecht and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
