Born in Rotterdam in 1903, Died in Rotterdam in 1973.

Education: He was co-founder of the ARA Group. Lives and works in Rotterdam

After the war, Jaap Kraanen recorded the reconstruction of Rotterdam in his characteristic style. He first worked figuratively, but became increasingly abstract and composed of lively lines and figures

Exhibitions and prizes:

His work is in the collections of Boymans, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Museum of Modern Art in Arnhem and the MoMa in New York.
