Herman Gordijn is one of the most important Dutch post-war painters of figurative art.

Herman Gordijn was educated at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in the early 1950s. His work is classified as Lyrical Realism.

Herman Gordijn is known for his paintings of women, who usually do not meet the ideal of beauty. In his work, Gordijn is always looking for the characteristics of a person that make this person unique and emphasizes these.

Herman Gordijn has lessons at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.

Herman Gordijn's work can be found in many museum, corporate and private collections, including the National Collection.
