Gertie JANSSEN
Painter
Born in 1947 in Venray.
Education:
Gertie Janssen was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem and at the Jan van Eyck Akademie in Maastricht.
Lives and works in Malden.
Gertie Janssen usually works intuitively: her feeling determines the atmosphere of her work. Color therefore plays an important role, as does the language of form. Primitive forms from African cultures are also common in Janssen's work, the symbolism of which is often related to events in the artist's life. Previously she mainly painted, in recent years Janssen has started to experiment more in terms of material and form.
