Fons HAAGMANS
Visual artist, painter, draftsman
Born in Schinnen, February 26, 1948
Education:
Fons Haagmans studied from 1966 to 1970 at the Academy of Visual Arts in Maastricht
He lives and works in Maastricht
Fons Haagmans is known for his figurative paintings and drawings. His images are simple, but often contain different layers of meaning. Haagmans often paints icons in a different light, so that they take on a different meaning than usual. This is very reminiscent of Pop-Art, not so strange, since Pop-Art was on the rise when Fons Haagmans was growing up. The well-known contemporary Limburg artist taught at various academies (ABK in Maastricht, the Jan van Eyck Academy).

Gallery Onrust, Amsterdam, 2002 Lost Highway, Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht, 2007
