Fernand LEGER
Painter, Sculptor
Born in Argetan (France) in 1881, Died in 1955 in Gif-sur-Yvette (France)
Fernand Leger goes to Paris at the age of 19 to work as an Architect and there he follows his education at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs and the Academie Julian. Leger initially works in an impressionistic style, but later becomes completely absorbed in Cubism, under the influence of Modigliani, Chagall and Cezanne, whom he meets in Paris. Leger is still seen as one of the important representatives of Cubism.
Later he was also influenced by Dutch artists such as Van Doesburg and Mondriaan.
Fernand L_ger's work can be found in the major museums in the world, such as the Hermitage, the Guggenheim, Moma etc.
