Antonius Wilhelmus (Ton) Albers (1923 – 2017) was a Dutch artist. He made watercolours, drawings and lithographs. He attended the arts and crafts school in his hometown and was then taught by Piet Landkroon for twelve years. During the Second World War he interrupted his studies and joined the resistance. He worked as a designer for the business community. He was a teacher of Hetty Mertz, Caroline Nieuwenhuizen and Roelof Smelt, among others. From the seventies onwards he devoted himself entirely to watercolor painting and making lithographs with his own printing press. He was inspired by the art of the Dutch Impressionists, especially Hendrik Weissenbruch, Jacob Maris and Kees Verwey. Albers worked in the tradition of the Hague School: atmosphere, mood and light. He developed his own handwriting with the following subjects: landscapes, beach views (the Wadden Islands), flower still lifes, city views, ballet scenes and portraits. Much work is included in the ING collection, in collections of large multinationals (AkzoNobel) and private individuals. He worked in Amsterdam, Duivendrecht and Ouder-Amstel. Ton Albers has exhibited in, among others, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Singer Museum in Laren, the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden and Slot Zeist in Zeist.
