Tilly Moes studied at the Art Academy in The Hague. She painted still lifes with fruit and flowers, under the pseudonym Tilly Moes, her real name was Sofia Theodora van Driel.
To make a living, she painted one still life after another while her husband sold them by train and tram. Gradually there were many buyers for her works and she could hardly meet the demand. Her success continued unabated.
