Thijs Mauve (1915-1996) was the grandson of the famous Anton Mauve and was also known as
painter, both with oil paint and watercolour, graphic artist, illustrator, wood engraver, book cover designer and maker of ex libris. He was the grandson of painter Anton Mauve, one of the founders of the Laren School. Thijs attended the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Den Haag. His main inspiration and subject was the landscape, that of his living environment in particular. In 1943 he came to Lunteren, where he settled after the Second World War. In 1979 he moved to Devon on the south coast of England, where he died in 1996.
