Koster volgde zijn opleiding aan de Amsterdamse Gerrit Rietveld Academie en aan de Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Arnhem.
De basis voor het werk van Koster is vaak het landschap, en kent een helder kleurgebruik. Koster creëert diepte door het gebruik van grafische details en verschillende materialen in zijn collages. Vlakverdeling en kleur bepalen de sfeer van elk van zijn werken.
