About the artist:
Born in Den Helder in 1910. He lived and worked most of his life in Soestdijk/Soest. At a later age he moved to Drente (Noordlaren) and died there in 1994.
Qualifications: Self-taught; lino cutter, painter, draftsman
Subjects: flower still lifes, landscapes
Also made (early) pop art
Member of: Amersfoort Artists' Society 'De Ploegh'
His style can be described as romantic realism and often has the flower still life and landscape as subjects. "Each painting of mine is inspired by a certain thought and you never make a good painting a second time," the artist once said in an interview.
