Sam Parabisingh was born on October 30, 1943 in Curaçao. From a young age, he was busy drawing and sketching on the island that was so familiar to him. He was fascinated by the grandeur and beauty of the world and its inhabitants from an early age. Despite his love for drawing and painting, Sam decided to leave for the Netherlands at the age of 17. He attended teacher training college in Dongen. Although he obtained his headmaster's certificate there, his true passion for creative art won out over the prospect of a job as a head teacher. He went on to study at the Royal Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp.
After completing this education, he taught drawing for a number of years at the HAVO in Dongen. He filled his free time with drawing, painting and etching. He depicted life as he experienced it, in the form of art.
