In the early 1990s, a change took place in the work of Roy Villevoye (Maastricht, 1960). Instead of paintings, he starts making installations, sculptures, photos and video work. During the same period, he visits the Asmat, a people in New Guinea, for the first time. From that moment on, the exchange between places, people and areas plays a prominent role in his oeuvre.
