Deze tentoonstelling bevatte schilderijen, emails, assemblages en tekeningen van Roy Lichtenstein.
PopArt werd in Nederland geïntroduceerd doormiddel van twee tentoonstellingen. De kunstenaar Lichtenstein was hier ook in vertegenwoordigd met belangrijke werken. Na de sluiting van de tentoonstelling in Amsterdam verwierf het Stedelijk Museum zijn werk 'As I opened fire'.
Het werk van Lichtenstein laat beelden zien de in onze samenleving worden geproduceerd. De beelden hebben in zijn werk de plaats van het object overgenomen. Tussen de kunstenaar en het object is het beeld van het object komen te staan en hierdoor wordt het daadwerkelijke object irreëel. Deze tentoonstelling had als doel de werken van Lichtenstein te exposeren als beeldende kunst in de strikte betekenis van het woord.
Deze catalogus bevat een inleiding, foto's de tentoongestelde werken, een interview met Roy Lichtenstein en zijn biografie.
De tekst is zowel in het Nederlands als in het Engels.
Let op: de kleuren van de voorpagina zijn in werkelijkheid donkerrood en geel, i.p.v. verzadigd rood en groen.
