Visual artist, son of a family of cigar dealers, received the encouragement prize of the city of Eindhoven in 1963. This prize was exclusively intended for young Eindhoven artists.
Rooymans was a versatile artist, qualified as a collagist, graphic artist, installation artist, painter and graphic artist.
His artistic education began at the Textil-Ingenieurschule in Krefeld (Germany), but he soon opted for a free artistry. In the years 1960-1963 he was taught by the Amsterdam painter Jos Rovers. An education that was exclusively focused on working from observation. There he learned all the techniques of a classically trained painter/graphic artist.
In 1968 he settled with sculptress Jorien de Kruyff- van Dorssen in the Gelderland village of Gellicum where he would live until his death. From 1967 to 1983 Rooymans regularly withdrew for long periods to work on the uninhabited island of Crevinish on the Irish west coast. His family stayed behind in the Netherlands.
Two of his works, both oil on canvas, are in the possession of Museum Kempenland (Eindhoven Museum): Lotje Heynes, (1967) and Boetseerster, (1963).
