Paul Overhaus (Amsterdam 1935-2014) studeerde aan de Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten te Amsterdam en aan het Nationaal Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten te Antwerpen. Van 1968 tot 1987 was hij Lector aan de Rijksakademie te Amsterdam.Zijn omvangrijke oeuvre omvat schilderijen, pastels, gouaches, tekeningen en houtsneden, met als voornaamste thema’s: portret en landschap. Daarnaast voert hij monumentale opdrachten uit, zoals wandschilderingen, stucreliëfwanden, mozaïeken, glas-in-loodramen en tegeltableaus. Hij ontwerpt dessins voor stoffen en behang alsmede voor vloerkleden en maakt boekillustraties.
De fascinatie voor de zee, het wad, de duinen en de wolkenluchten vormt de basis voor de vormentaal die in al zijn werk doorklinkt.
