De Zwitserse kunstenares Mona Arnold heeft 30 jaar bij Swissair gewerkt, maar is in haar hart altijd een gepassioneerd teken- en schildertalent geweest. Als kind hield ze er al van om Schoch te tekenen en na haar huwelijk en werk volgde ze meer dan tien jaar lang schilderlessen bij verschillende kunstinstituten. In die periode legde ze zich toe op het naschilderen van oude meesterwerken, die zo perfect waren dat het voor zeer goede vervalsingen door zou kunnen gaan.
Daarnaast hield ze ervan om in aquarel landschappen te schilderen in de natuur van Toscane, de Provence, Andalusië en op Samos. Maar toen ze op een dag vanwege de regen niet naar buiten kon, en ze slechts vanuit de verbeelding een klaproos begon te schilderen, kwam de echte Mona naar buiten. Het niet naschilderen, maar het vanuit de fantasie te laten ontstaan voelde als een bevrijding! Haar schilderstijl werd nu plots intuïtief, snel en energiek. Haar werk werd opgenomen door de Poster Gallery Munchen en binnen no time belandde ze in de top 10 van best verkochte posters wereldwijd.
