Michel Ciry (La Baule-Escoublac, August 31, 1919 - Varengeville-sur-Mer, December 26, 2018) was a French artist who expressed himself in various art forms. His graphic oeuvre is still very popular among graphic collectors.
Michel Ciry was born in La Baule-Escoublac, close to the mouth of the Loire, the son of the Vicomte de Ciry. When Ciry was 15 years old, his father noticed his artistic talents. He sends him to L'École supérieure des arts appliqués Duperré in Paris. Ciry honed her skills in various arts, including painting, etching, engraving and drawing, as well as musical composition and literary expression in the form of published diaries. Catholic stories, images and characters prove to be a source of inspiration for Ciry.
Ciry became known for his visual works of art, but his published diaries and musical pieces were also not without success. For example, in 1953 he was laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for composition due to the innovative character of his music. Ciry was also a candidate several times to join the prestigious Académie française and was a member of the Académie royale de Belgique. Ciry received several awards. He eventually died on December 26, 2018 in Varengeville-sur-Mer, Normandy.
