Martin (Martijn) Monnickendam (Amsterdam 25 February 1874 – Amsterdam 4 January 1943), was a Dutch painter and draftsman. He studied from 1891 to 1893 at the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten and was a pupil at the drawing school Felix Meritis, both in Amsterdam. He practiced the genres: painting, watercolor, etching, drawing and lithography. He often chose the city of Amsterdam or Jewish themes as subjects.
In 1904 Monnickendam became a member of the artists' association Arti et Amicitiae, in 1905 of Sint Lucas and in 1916 of the Onafhankelijken.
In 1906, Monnickendam married Alice Mouzin, director of the Industrial School for Female Youth.
There was an honorary exhibition in 1924 at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam in connection with his 50th birthday. On his sixtieth birthday in 1934 his friend Bernard Houthakker organized an exhibition for that purpose.
He was appointed Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
