Very nice Dutch landscape by the first Dutch cubist Lodewijk Schelfhout. It is a view of a medium-sized city near dunes (right). It could be a view of Haarlem (St. Bavo?) but also a somewhat smaller city in Zeeland for example.

Drypoint etching on paper, signed in pencil, dated (1915), with the addition “1 st.” (the 1st and only state of this etching). Freshly framed, behind glass, and with a spotless, acid-free passe-partout. All in very good condition. Literature: Catalogue des pointes-seches de Lodewijk Schelfhout no. 37.

Dimensions: 59cm x 46cm (incl. frame), 37cm x 23cm (etching)

The Rijksmuseum collection contains many etchings by Lodewijk Schelfhout, but I could not find this etching. Perhaps this says something about the rarity of the etching.

1. This item is preferably picked up. Shipping by courier is possible and can be arranged by the buyer with a courier of his/her choice (for example with Swift Couriers via the Kunstveiling website).

2. The sheet can be sent loose. In that case, the sheet is removed from the frame as best as possible and sent without a frame (but perhaps with a passe-partout).

When purchasing, a work of art can always be picked up in Diemen (near Amsterdam, a few minutes from the A10 ring road), but only by appointment. The period for collection is very generous; you can possibly pick up the work weeks or even months later and, if possible, combine it with a visit to (the area around) Amsterdam for other matters. In that case, you will of course save on shipping costs. The only exception to the above is that if the seller at any time decides to ship the work free of charge , this is binding, i.e. the work cannot be picked up in that case. This will only happen in exceptional cases and the buyer will not run any financial risk.
