Information about the artist: Keesje Vreugdenhil (Amsterdam 1917 - The Hague 12 March 2013), sculptor and painter. Keesje Vreugdenhil - van der Moot married the artist Joop Vreugdenhil (1904-1969) in 1948, whom she had met when she worked as a painter's model at Pulchri Studio (The Hague). -Education: She studied sculpture at the Royal Academy in The Hague. As a painter she was self-taught. Together with her husband they had a studio in The Hague. In the early sixties Keesje Vreugdenhil moved to California, where she kept in touch with Joop Vreugdenhil. Influenced by the sunny life in Los Angeles she developed an almost un-Dutch style. Her paintings are harmonious and cheerful, with bright colours and shapes. She travelled a lot and found her subjects in Peru and Tunisia, among other places. In addition to landscapes, she painted still lifes and nudes. She also made sculptures. After the death of Joop Vreugdenhil in 1969, Keesje Vreugdenhil returned permanently to the Netherlands (The Hague) and remained active as an artist for a long time.
