Karel Hendrik van Seben (sometimes he drew with von Seben) (The Hague, October 26, 1893 – Hilversum, March 11, 1988) was a Dutch painter, sculptor, draftsman, illustrator and bookbinding designer.[1]
Van Seben worked and lived in The Hague until 1919, in Amsterdam until 1933, in Hilversum in 1934, Loosdrecht until 1939, De Bilt, Bilthoven and from 1943 in Bussum.
He was a student of the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague with professor Ros. He traveled to Greece, France, Africa, Italy and Norway.
Van Seben made cityscapes, still lifes, figure representations and designed quite a few book bindings and covers for sheet music, of which at least 31 are known. He was a member of the Kunstliefde society in Utrecht.
A portrait of him by: Otto van Rees hangs in the Centraal Museum in Utrecht.
