Juliaan Severin - Farmland landscape

Beautiful watercolor/drawing by the Belgian artist, painter, etcher, pastelist and graphic artist Juliaan Severin (1888-1975) was a Belgian artist, painter, etcher, pastelist and graphic artist. He was born on May 19, 1888 in Borgerhout and died on December 11, 1975 in Kruibeke. Severin studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and had close contacts with the Lier etcher Raymond De la Haye. He was influenced by artists such as Verstraeten and came into contact with C. Monet in Paris during the First World War.

Severin was one of the founders and secretary of the Antwerp Art Circle of Veterans (AKOS) after the armistice. His etchings and paintings often showed picturesque old city districts, beguinages and church towers, and he sang the praises of the Waasland, where he had lived since 1940.
