Josephus Laurentius Dyckmans (1811-1888) was a Belgian artist who studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In 1936 he was honored with a silver medal by the Salon of Brussels. He worked as a professor at the Academy in Antwerp from 1840 to 1854. One of his most famous works, the Blind Beggar from 1852, hangs in the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp. From 1846 to 1869 he exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy of Arts in London and sold many works to Great Britain.
