Jan Rinke, Schildwolde 1863-1922 The Hague. Jan Frederik Rinke was a Dutch painter, etcher, lithographer, illustrator and binding designer. Between 1899 and 1902 Jan Rinke studied at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam. Rinke illustrated many books, including two volumes by Pietje Bell and the book Jaap Snoek van Volendam. He was also a bookbinding designer. He designed dozens of tires for the Kluitman company in Alkmaar. Rinke lived and worked in Amsterdam, Blaricum, Volendam and The Hague. He also spent a lot of time abroad to work, including in London, Berlin and Tyrol. This will have been one of his last works in 1921 because he died a year later. The canvas is 60 X 70.
