The book is bound and still well put together, although there is some space between the binding and the pages further on in the book.
A few pages show moisture spots, especially on a few pages in the front and back of the book, but on most pages it is very limited. The heliogravures are all in fine condition.
Jan Mankes was only 31 years old. His oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, includes approximately 150 paintings, mostly small formats, some 100 drawings and over 40 sheets of graphics, mainly etchings and woodcuts. Jan Mankes has gone down in art history as “Holland’s most tranquil painter”.
There are currently two exhibitions of Jan Mankes' work on display: in Heereveen and in Arnhem.
