The painter Jan Herman Coster lived and worked in Almelo (temporarily in Amsterdam 1870 – 1874) until 1909. Tubbergen until 1913, then in Apeldoorn. Pupil of A. Allebé and B. Wijnveld jr. in Amsterdam (1870 – 1874) and of H. Valkenburg (1870 – 1876). Painted and drew Twente landscapes and still lifes. Was a member of “Arti et Amicatiae” in Amsterdam.
