Herman Gordijn (The Hague 1932 – Terschuur 2017) was a painter and graphic artist. His work is considered part of lyric realism. From 1950 to 1955 he trained at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. In 1960 he settled in Amsterdam. In the 1960s and 1970s he was also very productive as a set and costume designer for theater companies. Gordijn became known for his large commissioned portraits and his unconventional representations. From 1969 to 1987 he was a teacher at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.
