Henri Matchavariani (born 1939) is a famous illustrator who has published numerous articles in Vogue, but also a painter and calligrapher. He worked closely with Helmut Newton on an advertising project. His art is guided by elegant lines and suggestive gestures inspired by the East.

Henri Matchavariani also designed advertising campaigns for the airline Air France, for whom he created numerous posters reproduced in large format (in the metro and at airports) and for the press.
His work was shown throughout France in the 1980s and 1990s.

"A few strokes, for the sake of economy, for the strict necessity of the sign.
A few strokes, like a vibration of pastel or ink in the stillness of my white sheets.
Just a few strokes, and no more."
Henri Matchavariani

Henri Matchavariani Henri Matchavariani is also a well-known figure in French cinema: he has done a number of dubbings and regularly appears in supporting roles, notably in films by Philippe Claudel, Roman Polanski and others.
